The Police Service Commission (PSC), working with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks.
The application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026.
The extension comes after the commission received over 400,000 applications across the country.
A review of the submissions showed that some states had far fewer applicants than others.
States like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded large numbers of applications, while Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra had comparatively low participation.
The PSC said the move is meant to allow fair opportunities for candidates from all states.
The commission urged eligible Nigerians, especially those from states with fewer applicants, to submit their forms through the official recruitment portal at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng before the new deadline.
Authorities also called on state and local governments, community leaders, religious organizations, and other groups to help spread the word and encourage qualified candidates to apply.
Both the PSC and the Nigeria Police Force assured the public that the recruitment process will be conducted fairly and transparently, with all applications carefully reviewed.
