Suspected terrorists on Tuesday attacked Gare Village in Pallam District, Madagali Local Government Area, the hometown of Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, and kidnapped six members of a family.
During the attack, livestock were also stolen.
The state police said a joint team of police and military personnel is currently in the area carrying out search-and-rescue operations.
Security forces have increased patrols and reinforced their presence in Madagali and nearby border communities to secure the release of the victims and prevent further attacks.
Adamawa State Police Commissioner Dankombo Morris has directed continued search efforts and stronger security measures across the region.
Authorities say the police, Nigerian Army, and other security agencies remain committed to protecting lives and properties in the state. Updates on the rescue efforts will be shared as they become available.
Governor Fintiri has started visiting all 21 local government areas in Adamawa to review the security situation and other challenges affecting residents.
This attack follows previous incidents, including a recent assault in Hong Local Government that killed 12 people and destroyed homes, and a communal conflict in Lamurde Local Government earlier this year that claimed over 20 lives.
