Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has come back to Nigeria after spending several years abroad.
He arrived in Ibadan on Monday and went straight to meet the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
His visit marked the first public appearance since his return.
Igboho’s return comes after he was cleared of any active government pursuit.
His spokesperson confirmed that he is free to be with his people again, ending years of living in exile.
The activist’s ability to return was aided by efforts from regional leaders, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
Their involvement, along with support from other figures in the South-West, helped ensure a smooth homecoming.
During his time away, Igboho had repeatedly called for his name to be removed from the country’s wanted list.
He had stated that previous accusations against him prevented him from using a Nigerian passport and accessing his bank accounts, even though courts had ruled in his favor.
His team expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Yoruba traditional rulers, and Yoruba communities worldwide for their support during his years in exile, acknowledging their role in making his return possible.
