Tinubu Didn’t Remove Subsidy – Biodun Ajiboye.

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Biodun Ajiboye, has stated that President Bola Tinubu did not personally remove fuel subsidy.

Ajiboye made the claim during an interview on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television on Monday.

According to him, the president merely announced the removal of the subsidy, insisting that the system was no longer sustainable by the time Tinubu assumed office.

He said, “Right as we speak Today, in May 2023, whether we like it or not, there is no possibility of continuing with the subsidy.

“Tinubu did not remove; he only announced the removal. And some people are saying why would he announce subsidy removal without preparing for it? How was it possible to continue with as at the time he came to power?”

Ajiboye further argued that the current administration is focused on reversing the country’s economic challenges, noting what he described as significant improvements in key indicators.

“What we have done is try to reverse the negative tide of the economy. The Unemployment rate has dropped drastically from 33% to about 4% now reason being that other sectors of the economy absorb people, not the major sector of the economy,” he said.

He also maintained that the payment of workers’ salaries has been consistent under the current government.

“Payment of civil servants’ salaries has not failed one day. State governments no longer borrow money to pay salaries as they were doing before,” Ajiboye added.
