The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned workers of the FCT Administration to return to work or face punishment from the law.
The warning was given on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, when Wike spoke with journalists in his office in Abuja and expressed anger over workers who refused to resume duty after a court order.
He said any staff member who stays away from work from Wednesday will be dealt with firmly.
He also warned that anyone who tries to block the entrance of government offices will be singled out and punished to serve as a lesson to others.
Wike explained that no one has the right to disobey the law without facing consequences, adding that government would no longer tolerate open refusal to follow court orders.
His reaction came after the National Industrial Court in Abuja granted an interim order directing workers under the Joint Union Action Committee to suspend their strike and return to work.
Despite the court ruling, many workers who gathered on Tuesday said they were no longer on strike but would remain at home instead of resuming duty.
Staff of the Federal Capital Territory Administration later insisted that they would not return to work, even with the court instruction to stop the industrial action.
