The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress has said efforts are already in motion to calm the political tension surrounding the impeachment threat against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Speaking during a television interview on Sunday, February 2, 2026, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, stated that the party is quietly engaging key players to stop the impeachment process directed at the governor and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.
Yilwatda explained that discussions are ongoing with members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, noting that the matter is being handled as an internal party issue.
According to him, the absence of fresh public noise around the impeachment move shows that the intervention is working.
He added that the APC has well-structured ways of settling internal disagreements and managing crises, which helps prevent issues from escalating beyond control.
He said these internal systems allow the party to correct itself whenever problems arise.
The APC chairman described the steps being taken in Rivers State as a process of restoring balance within the party and ensuring political stability in the state.
He noted that the focus is not only on calming tensions but also on creating room for unity and stronger political performance.
Yilwatda further stated that the party’s goal is to stabilise Rivers State and position itself strongly for future elections, adding that the ongoing talks are aimed at ensuring peace and cooperation among all stakeholders involved.
