Popular Nigerian comedian and social media influencer, Broda Shaggi, has been hospitalised after he was allegedly shot while filming a comedy skit in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
The entertainer, whose real name is Samuel Perry, was said to have sustained a gunshot injury on Sunday afternoon while shooting content under the Sango-Ota bridge.
Sources told journalists that the incident occurred during a skit recording session with members of his production crew.
A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment on the matter, said the comedian was immediately rushed to hospital after the incident.
“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. We don’t have details on how it happened yet, but his crew members who were present quickly rushed him to the hospital,” the source said.
The source disclosed that the injured comedian was first taken to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where medical personnel administered first aid.
Further findings revealed that he was later referred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area of Ikeja, where he is currently recuperating.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, told Vanguard in a telephone chat that the incident had not been formally reported to the command.
“The incident was alleged to have occurred in Ogun State, but it was not reported,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the incident has raised concerns among fans and followers of the comedian, as authorities continue investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting.
