Terrorists Strike Another Military Camp In Borno.

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Monday morning launched a major attack on a military camp in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

It was gathered that the terrorists reportedly stormed the 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa, around 12:50 am on Monday.

The attack came less than 30 minutes after the suspected Boko Haram/ ISWAP terrorists attacked Ajilari cross, and other surrounding areas in  Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The attack in Ajilari and other surrounding areas was repelled as residents confirmed the stoppage of gunshots after several minutes of sporadic shootings.

The spokesperson for the Borno State police command, ASP Nahum Daso, who confirmed the attack, said combined security operatives foiled the terrorists’ attempt to infiltrate the community.

Confirming the Damboa attack in a brief statement on Monday, ASP Daso, did not specify the exact location within the local government area, but said the attack was thwarted at 1 am.

He wrote, “In another separate incident, at about 0100HRS, Joint security operatives thwarted a suspected terrorist attack in Damboa LGA. Normalcy has been restored; more details are underway”.

However, while details of the attack were sketchy at the time of filing this report,  residents  confirmed sporadic shooting near a military base in the LGA.

A resident who did not want to be identified said that the terrorists  made an attempt to infiltrate the town through the 25 Task Force Brigade, but were denied access with heavy resistance.

The source said, “It was a horrible night. When we heard that terrorists were attempting to infiltrate Damboa through the military camp at the 25 Task Force brigade. The news quickly spread. Thank God for the effort of our gallant troops.”
