Tinubu Asks Senate To Confirm Oyedele As Minister Of State For Finance.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday asked the Senate to confirm Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance.

The request was conveyed in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and read during Tuesday’s plenary.

In the correspondence, the President urged the Senate to expedite the screening and confirmation process for the nominee.

Following the reading of the letter, the Senate referred the request to the Committee of the Whole for immediate consideration.

During the plenary, Akpabio also read three additional correspondences from the President seeking the Senate’s approval for other key appointments.

One of the letters requested the confirmation of Mainasara Ilo as the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre.

According to the request, Ilo is to serve an initial tenure of four years if confirmed.

The Senate subsequently referred the nomination to the Committee on Narcotics and Sports for further legislative action.

In another letter, Tinubu sought Senate confirmation for three appointees to the Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The President nominated Magnus Abe as chairman of the commission, while Jossy Yaro and Sunday Adebayo were nominated as non-executive commissioners.

The Senate referred the nominations to the Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), directing it to submit its report within one week.

The Senate President also read another letter from Tinubu announcing nominees for positions in the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

In the letter, the President nominated Amina Gamawa from Bauchi State and Abdulahi Muktar from Kaduna State as commissioners.

The request was referred to the Senate Committee on National Planning, which was also mandated to report back within one week.
