In the early hours of today, Monday, the 27th of April, the news of the death of Nollywood actor, Solomin Akiyesi filtered in, and some of us couldn’t believe the story, and we started asking questions.
First, “News PlatformNG” reached out to the
leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN with the immediate past
president, Emeka Rollas-Ejezie responding immediately.
We also contacted the current national president, Yabub
Abubakar, who maybe was busy at first, because before he responded, we had
gotten the answers we sought.
Another individual we reached out to was actor and
producer Nazareth Jesse, who doubles as the national vice president, north
central, of AGN,she gave us the corporation “News PlatformNG”
needed as a yardstick to confirm that the story was actually correct without
sounding stupid.
Some people may wonder why “News PlatformNG” had
to reach so many people just to confirm a story that, though not in public yet, was very dicey. A few days ago, this same platform had reported the death
of an actor, confirmed from the original source of the story, only for the
story to turn to a Hux and we had to send a retraction and an apology, so
having such again wasn’t what we were planning to have as reputation for.
It was during our search for the true news that “News
PlatformNG”came across what may have led to the death of Solomon Akiyesi.
What was that you may want to know, it was “Chronic Ulcer."
According to the statement made to “News PlatformNG”,
the vice president of the AGN in charge of North Central, Nazareth Jesse told us that according to Solomon's wife, he passed away on Sunday midnight after
a brief illness related to a chronic ulcer.
We were told he had an ulcer attack in his sleep, and before morning, he was gone.
