A 29-year-old Sociology graduate of Kogi State University, identified as Blessing Moshood, has been allegedly murdered, with her body later discovered inside a canal in Jikwoyi area of Abuja.
Speaking with Daily Trust on Sunday, May 24, 2026, the deceased’s sister, Abigail Moshood, revealed that Blessing left their home around 8pm on Thursday after speaking with someone on the phone.
According to her, Blessing called back about an hour later, saying she wanted to briefly return home to pick up the phone charger she had forgotten.
However, the family became alarmed after she failed to return home or make further contact the next day.
“We later heard people talking about the bod¥ of a woman discovered inside a canal, and someone described the type of hairstyle the deceased had on, which matched my sister’s,” Abigail said.
“My mother started crying, and we also learnt that policemen from the Jikwoyi Police Station had evac¥ated the corpse, which was found half-n@ked with only a top on, to a mortuary in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.”
Abigail said she later visited the Jikwoyi Police Station where officers showed her photographs of the deceased, confirming their worst fears.
The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations into the tragic case are ongoing.
