APC Will Poll Over 10 Million Votes In 2027 Presidential Election - Yilwatda.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has expressed optimism that the ruling All Progressives Congress will record more than 10 million votes in the 2027 presidential election, citing the party’s growing membership and the impact of Federal Government intervention programmes.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics on Monday, Yilwatda reacted to the APC presidential primary where President Bola Tinubu emerged as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 election after polling 10.9 million votes.

When asked if the party could repeat such numbers in the general election, Yilwatda said the APC’s support extended beyond officially registered members.

“More than that, these are our members,” he said.

He argued that beneficiaries of various government initiatives were likely to support the ruling party in the next election.

“In my own thinking, most students are members of our party. We have about 1.5 million students who are beneficiaries of the student loan scheme. Their school fees are paid completely, and many of them have parents, brothers, and family members,” he stated.

Yilwatda further noted that millions enrolled in the national health insurance scheme, particularly retirees, elderly people, and vulnerable citizens, could also back the APC.

“We have added about four million Nigerians to the health insurance scheme, especially retired, elderly, and vulnerable citizens. Do you think they will vote for another party aside from ours?” he asked.

He also pointed to ongoing projects including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Badagry road project, and the Kano railway construction, saying many Nigerians were benefiting directly and indirectly from the projects.

The APC chairman maintained that the party remains Nigeria’s most organised political platform with about 12.7 million registered members nationwide and an effective internal conflict resolution structure.

Yilwatda also dismissed claims that the APC was behind crises within opposition parties and denied allegations that President Tinubu imposes candidates on the party.
