Afrobeat singer Made Kuti has sparked reactions after revealing that he did not kneel while proposing to his wife, Inedoye Onyenso, because he believes marriage should be a mutual decision, not an act of begging.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Timeless Podcast on Nix Network’s YouTube channel, the 30-year-old singer said he made it clear to his wife that neither of them was pleading to be together.
“I did not go down on my knees when proposing to my wife because I told her it was a mutual decision. We are not begging each other to be with each other,” he said.
Made Kuti and Onyenso tied the knot in a private ceremony in Lagos in November 2023.
The Grammy-nominated singer also revealed that his wife used to be his school daughter.
