Joint Operation Kills 175 Terrorists In North-East Nigeria.



The Defence Headquarters has said that joint counterterrorism operations involving Nigerian troops and the United States Africa Command led to the killing of 175 members of ISIS-linked groups in parts of North-East Nigeria.

The military explained that the operations were carried out through coordinated air and ground attacks on different terrorist locations. 

These areas included hideouts, weapons storage sites, checkpoints, logistics bases, and places used for funding and planning attacks.

According to the Director of Defence Information, Samaila Uba, the strikes also targeted networks linked to the activities of insurgents operating in the region. 

He said several senior figures of the Islamic State West Africa Province Islamic State West Africa Province were among those killed during the operations.

One of those reported killed is Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as a senior ISIS-linked figure involved in financing, recruitment, logistics, and attack coordination. 

Others said to have died in the operation include Abd-al Wahhab, Abu Musa al-Mangawi, and Abu al-Muthanna al-Muhajir. They were linked to propaganda work, media activities, and planning of attacks for the group.

Military authorities said the removal of these commanders has affected coordination within the network and reduced links used for planning external attacks.

The Armed Forces also said they will continue working with international partners, including the United States Africa Command United States Africa Command, to sustain pressure on terrorist groups and support efforts to restore peace in the North-East.

The Defence Headquarters Defence Headquarters Nigeria said operations against insurgent cells will continue as part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist activity in affected areas.
