Tragedy struck Ngbra Zongo community in Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area of after gunmen carried out a deadly midnight attack that left at least 13 people dead and several others injured.
The attack happened in the early hours of Friday, May 8, while many residents were asleep in their homes. Reports said the armed men invaded the community around 12 a.m. and began shooting, causing panic as villagers ran in different directions to escape.
Residents said the attackers moved through the area attacking people inside their homes. The sound of gunfire reportedly threw the community into confusion as families struggled to find safety during the raid.
One resident, Philip Alanga, said the gunmen entered the community and went from one house to another while attacking innocent people. According to him, the attackers continued shooting as frightened residents fled for their lives.
Another resident, Chigoji Rocku, disclosed that three pregnant women were among those killed during the attack. Several other residents also suffered injuries during the invasion.
The latest attack has again raised fear among residents of the area, who have continued to face repeated security threats in recent times. Community members are now calling for stronger security presence to prevent further attacks and protect lives and property.
