Nigerian Pilgrims Protest Poor Feeding, Welfare Conditions During 2026 Hajj In Saudi Arabia.

Some Nigerian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise have accused service provider, Mashariq Dhabiya, of poor welfare and feeding conditions in Mina despite payments covering feeding and accommodation.

Pilgrims who spoke anonymously alleged that the company served mostly unfamiliar foreign dishes in small portions.

“A company named Mashariq Dhabiya contracted to offer services in Mina has been offering non-Nigerian dishes. The food has no taste and the quantity barely feeds a child,” one pilgrim said.

Others claimed spoiled food was distributed on one occasion.

“They brought food last night that had spoilt. It was smelling. Many people rejected it,” another pilgrim alleged.

The pilgrims said many were forced to buy food with their own money despite paying for three meals daily. “Pilgrims are now constrained to buying food in the sacred area because what they are serving is not acceptable. We paid for three meals daily at the sacred sites,” a pilgrim lamented.

They also complained about lack of cold water, delayed meals and poor accommodation conditions, with some alleging they slept hungry. “Last night, pilgrims were left without food. Many slept hungry,” one of them said.
