Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has highlighted the growing difference in petrol prices between Nigeria and England, revealing that fuel now sells for almost three times higher in England than what Nigerians currently pay.
Omokri made the statement in a Facebook post on Wednesday, blaming the rise in fuel prices on the ongoing Middle East crisis, which he said has triggered a global increase in petroleum costs rather than a problem limited to Nigeria.
According to him, “Petrol Is Now #3200 Per Litre In England. Almost Three Times What We Pay In Nigeria. Price Increases Are a Global Issue Caused By The Middle East Crisis.”
His comments come amid a sharp rise in global crude oil prices, driven by escalating geopolitical tensions and major supply disruptions affecting international oil markets.
Reports indicate that crude prices have climbed to their highest levels since 2022 following the effective shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route responsible for transporting nearly one-fifth of the world’s crude oil supply.
