Poor Nigerians Don’t Need Deliverance From Poverty - Rev Father Oluoma.

Reverend Father John Chinenye Oluoma has caused public talk after sharing his thoughts on how poverty is addressed in society and the role of both religious leaders and government officials.

He criticized prayer gatherings where poor people are asked to come for special prayers aimed at ending poverty.

He said that such actions are not the right approach and described people who attend such meetings as acting foolishly. He explained that, in his view, the real attention should be on those who control resources and make decisions that affect the country.

He pointed to leaders in government, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, saying they are the ones who should be the focus of prayers and spiritual work.

He said that if there is any real spiritual effort that can address poverty, it should be directed at those in authority so they can be free from greed, selfish interest, poor leadership habits, and division.

Oluoma also said that if a religious leader claims to have power to remove poverty but does not direct efforts toward leaders in government, then such a person may be using the poor for personal gain.

He added that this kind of action is not genuine spiritual work but a way to benefit financially from people’s struggles.

He concluded by saying that the main solution to widespread hardship is good leadership. According to him, when capable and honest leaders are in charge, many of the problems facing society will reduce.
