President Bola Tinubu has admitted that many Nigerians are still battling economic hardship and insecurity despite his government’s repeated claims of progress.
Tinubu made the statement on Sunday, May 24, 2026, while accepting the APC presidential ticket for the 2027 election.
Acknowledging the country’s economic struggles, he said, “Yet challenges remain. Many Nigerians still struggle with rising costs and economic adjustment. We do not dismiss these concerns; we understand them and govern not in comfort, but in reality, with honesty and action.”
The President also admitted that insecurity remains a major issue across parts of the country despite ongoing military operations.
“I also acknowledge the security challenges still confronting parts of our beloved nation,” Tinubu said, adding that his administration had invested in intelligence, surveillance, and modern security equipment.
“We have invested in intelligence, surveillance, and modern equipment, and we are addressing the root causes of insecurity,” Tinubu added.
He also urged the National Assembly to approve state police “as a matter of national emergency.”
Tinubu’s remarks come amid public frustration over rising food prices, inflation, fuel subsidy removal, naira depreciation, k+dn@ppings, k+llings, and b@ndit att@cks across several parts of Nigeria.
