The Kannywood film industry has been thrown into grief following the death of veteran actor Wasila Isma’il, who passed away at the age of 46 after a prolonged illness.
Her ex-husband, Al-Amin Chiroma, confirmed her passing in a social media post on Sunday.
“Innalillahi Wainna Ilaihirrajiun. Wasila Isma’il is dead. She died at the Federation of Muslim Women Associations of Nigeria Hospital, Kaduna,” he wrote.
He added that she died on Sunday, May 24, after a long battle with illness.
The late actor is survived by her children.
Wasila Isma’il was a respected name in the Kannywood industry, known for her roles in several Hausa films over the years.
She began her acting journey in 1998 with Jinin Masoya and gained widespread recognition in 1999 after starring in Wasila.
