Veteran Nollywood actor, Hilda Dokubo has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the growing insecurity across Nigeria, saying the country's leaders are disconnected from the suffering of ordinary citizens.
Dokubo made the remarks in a video shared on X on Thursday, where she expressed concern over the increasing cases of kidnappings and violent attacks in different parts of the country.
According to the actress, public officials enjoy heavy security protection and comfortable lifestyles, while many Nigerians are left vulnerable to criminal attacks. She argued that the difference in living conditions has created a wide gap between leaders and the people they govern.
Dokubo said many citizens, especially farmers, are struggling daily because insecurity has made it difficult for them to access and work on their farmlands. She stated that those affected need protection and practical solutions rather than statements that do not address their challenges.
The actress also spoke about the plight of kidnapped children, describing some of the images and reports emerging from affected communities as disturbing and heartbreaking. She questioned how such incidents could fail to attract stronger reactions and urgent action from those in authority.
She further expressed sympathy for parents whose children have been abducted, saying the fear and uncertainty they face are painful experiences that no family should have to endure.
Dokubo warned against treating insecurity as a normal part of life, saying the problem affects everyone and could eventually reach people who currently feel untouched by it.
