INEC Clears Four Parties For Nasarawa North Senatorial Bye-Election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has cleared four political parties to take part in the Nasarawa North Senatorial District bye-election scheduled for June 20, 2026.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Nasarawa State, Mohammed Abubakar-Sadiq, said the parties that met all requirements are the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party, and New Nigeria Peoples Party.

He explained that the parties held their primaries between May 22 and May 26 in line with the electoral timetable, and INEC monitored the process before approving their candidates.

Campaign activities for the election are set to run from June 10 to June 18, 2026. The commission has also engaged the participating parties and urged them to follow all electoral guidelines during the campaign period and ahead of the poll.

INEC confirmed that preparations are already in progress across Akwanga, Wamba, and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas. It said non-sensitive materials have been distributed, while Registration Area Centres and Super RACs are ready for activation for personnel and logistics movement before election day.

The commission added that 338,042 registered voters from the 2023 general election will take part in the exercise, while newly registered voters from the ongoing registration exercise will not participate due to delays in issuing permanent voter cards.

It also noted that BVAS machines have been configured and training for election officials has been completed to ensure smooth conduct of the poll.
