A former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Koko-Besse Local Government Area of Kebbi State and another captive identified as Yahya have appealed for urgent help from captivity as their health condition continues to worsen.
The appeal came through a video that surfaced online and has attracted attention from residents and social media users.
The footage was shared by conflict reporter English Alhaji and showed the two elderly men speaking about their situation while being held by suspected bandits.
According to the former APC chairman, both men are battling health problems and have become weaker during their time in captivity. He said they have existing medical conditions and their health has deteriorated while being held by their abductors.
He also revealed that despite their age and poor health, they had been forced to walk long distances through forests alongside the kidnappers.
Yahya also appealed for assistance, saying they had spent a long period in captivity without regaining their freedom. The two men called on their families, community leaders, associates and government authorities to increase efforts toward securing their release.
The video has renewed concerns about the continued threat of kidnapping and bandit attacks in parts of northern Nigeria, where many communities have faced repeated security challenges.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies had not released any official statement regarding the video or the current status of the victims.
