Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 7 Division Provost Group have arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Mohammed Bulama, over allegations that he provided logistical and intelligence support to Boko Haram terrorists operating in Borno State.
Bulama, a resident of Mafa Local Government Area, was apprehended during an intelligence-driven surveillance operation conducted within the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council area.
According to reports, the suspect was arrested on June 1 at about 4:30 p.m. in the Ngawom area of Muna Garage after security operatives reportedly monitored his activities over a period of time.
Preliminary investigations are said to indicate that Bulama allegedly assisted members of the terr%rist group by supplying logistics and passing sensitive information.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, citing military sources, reported that the suspect admitted during questioning to having connections with other insurgent operatives active in the region.
The suspect reportedly expressed willingness to cooperate with security agencies by providing information that could aid efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the terr%rist network.
Military authorities have placed him in the custody of the 7 Division Provost Group while investigations continue.
