
Nine people have been injured in a shooting in Kansas City, close to the base England are expected to use during the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
The incident occurred just a short drive from the hotel and training facilities that England manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad will use during the tournament. Although the team is not yet in the city, the proximity and timing of the incident have raised fresh concerns as security preparations for the competition intensify.
England are set to be based in the area for part of their campaign at the FIFA World Cup, with matches and training scheduled across multiple host cities in the United States.
According to *The Athletic*, police in Kansas City were called to Troost Avenue at around 4 a.m. on Saturday after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found a large crowd dispersing from the scene.
Three adult women were initially found with gunshot injuries and taken to hospitals in the Kansas City area. Authorities later confirmed that additional victims had arrived at medical facilities by private transport.
In total, nine adults were shot. Police said all of the injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The shooting occurred roughly four miles from Swope Soccer Village, where England are expected to train during their stay in the city.
England’s squad, managed by Thomas Tuchel, is scheduled to use the facility as part of its preparations while staying nearby during the tournament period.
Investigations into the shooting are ongoing, and no arrests have yet been reported.
