Police Arrest Three NSCDC Officers Over Death Of Colleague, Trace ₦2bn In Account.

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested three officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Mining Marshals unit over the death of Deputy Superintendent of Corps Agada Levi Agada, an NSCDC officer and pastor who was shot during an operation in Nasarawa State.

The arrested officers are Simeon Yakubu Anyebe, Ibrahim Ayefu and ASC Iwodi Obochi. They are being questioned over their alleged roles in the incident that led to Agada’s death during an operation reportedly linked to mining security duties.

The investigation was launched by the Force Intelligence Department of the Nigeria Police Force after the family of the deceased raised concerns and petitioned authorities over conflicting reports surrounding how he died. While one account suggested an attack by armed criminals, another version indicated that only Agada died during the operation while other officers were detained.

Medical details cited by the family reportedly pointed to the possibility that the fatal gunshot came from the weapon of another NSCDC officer, raising further questions about what happened during the operation.

Police investigators also said they traced more than ₦2 billion in a bank account linked to an NSCDC Mining Marshal. They are now examining the transactions to determine whether the funds are connected to the incident or other related activities.

According to police sources, several Mining Marshals officers were invited for questioning but did not report. The three arrested officers were later picked up at a correctional facility while attempting to visit a remanded suspect connected to the case.

The family of the late officer has called for a full and independent investigation, alleging possible conspiracy, unlawful killing and efforts to hide details surrounding his death. They also raised concerns that his mobile phones have not been released and pointed to inconsistencies in official explanations.

The police say investigations are still ongoing and have urged the NSCDC leadership to present other officers involved for questioning as efforts continue to uncover the full circumstances of the incident.
