Some parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Nasarawa State have been thrown into darkness following a power disruption caused by a fault on a transmission facility.
The outage was announced by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, which said the problem came from a fault on the Transmission Company of Nigeria 132kV Apo–Karu Line 1. The incident affected bulk electricity supply to several areas across both regions.
The affected communities include Karu, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba, Ado, New Nyanya, New Karu, Uke, Masaka, Auta Balifi, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and surrounding areas.
AEDC explained that its technical teams, working alongside officials of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, were already working to fix the fault and restore power supply. It added that efforts were ongoing to restore electricity around 3pm on June 10, 2026.
The company also appealed for patience from residents, noting that the disruption was caused by a technical issue on the transmission line.
The development adds to ongoing concerns over unstable electricity supply in Nigeria, where power generation and distribution often fall short of demand across many states.
