Pregnant Woman Bags Life Sentenced For Killing Mother Of Five.

A pregnant Alabama woman has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole after being convicted of the fatal shooting of another pregnant woman who was carrying a child fathered by the same man.

Aaniyah Nowden was found guilty of capital murder in a Jefferson County court and received a life sentence last week for the death of 36-year-old Justina Wallace, according to court records and local reports.

The tragic incident occurred on July 7, 2023, in Birmingham, Alabama. Authorities said both Nowden and Wallace were pregnant at the time of the shooting and were involved with the same man.

Prosecutors told the court that Wallace had gone to Nowden's residence on the day of the incident, where an argument broke out involving the two women and the child's father. During the confrontation, Nowden shot Wallace while she was holding her toddler.

Wallace later died from her injuries, and her unborn child did not survive. In addition to the toddler she was carrying, two of her other five children were reportedly nearby when the shooting occurred.

According to local media reports, the incident was captured on cell phone video and presented as evidence during the trial.

Nowden claimed she acted in self-defense. However, prosecutors argued that Wallace was unarmed and posed no immediate threat at the time she was shot.

"This defendant shot and killed a pregnant woman who was carrying nothing but her baby in her arms," Deputy District Attorney Jason Wilson said during court proceedings. "Justina had no weapon, no gun, she wasn't attacking anybody."

Nowden was initially charged with three counts of capital murder. Jurors ultimately convicted her on one count while dismissing the remaining two charges.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the loss of two lives — Wallace and her unborn child. Following the conviction, the court sentenced Nowden
