Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems has made it clear that she’s not interested in entertaining dating speculation after being quizzed about the trending Super Eagles goalkeeper during a recent interview.
While speaking about representing Africa on the global stage, the singer expressed pride in how far Nigerian and African music have come.
“It’s amazing, you know, coming from Nigeria. I’m just really happy where African music is going right now. Everybody’s popping off and everybody’s shining. So I’m just happy to be a part of that,” she said.
The conversation then took a playful turn when the host asked if she knew the Nigerian goalkeeper currently making waves online.
Tems first jokingly asked, “Do I know him personally?” before admitting, “I think I do, No, no, no, no, no. I don’t.”
Sensing an opportunity to play matchmaker, the host quipped, “We should shoot our shot.”
But Tems immediately shut the idea down with a response that has now got fans talking.
“Shoot? No, no, no, we don’t shoot shots here. We’re friends. We ‘friend’ each other and we’re family. No shots,” she replied.
The hosts doubled down on the joke, saying, “Just family. Just sisters and brothers,” before adding, “If you shoot, you miss. No shots over here.”
Tems laughed off the exchange, sticking to her stance and keeping the moment lighthearted.
