Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims Abandoned By Fleeing Terrorists In Katsina.

Troops of the 17 Brigade under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued six kidnap victims who were abandoned by fleeing terrorists during an offensive operation in Katsina State.

The rescue operation was carried out on June 29, 2026, at Unguwan Doka in Faskari Local Government Area following sustained military offensives against terrorist enclaves in the area.

According to military sources, the rescued victims include four women and two children. They were identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku, 30; Amina Isiaku, 25; Fatima Saidu, 22; Huzaima Nasiru, 16; one-year-old Usman Surajo; and 18-month-old Dauda Isiaku.

During preliminary interrogation, the victims revealed that they were abducted by armed terrorists on March 11, 2026, along the Tsafe–Bilbis Road in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The victims, all natives of Bilbis village, said they spent more than three months in captivity before their captors abandoned them while fleeing advancing troops during intensified military operations.

Military authorities disclosed that the rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and other necessary care, while arrangements are being made to reunite them with their families.

The rescue forms part of the ongoing operations by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, rescue abducted persons, and restore peace across communities in Nigeria's North-West region.
