Argentina Request Special FIFA Kit Approval Ahead Of World Cup Semi-Final Against England.

Argentina have reportedly made a special request to FIFA over their kit selection for Wednesday's blockbuster 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final against England in Atlanta.

The reigning world champions secured their place in the last four with an impressive 3-1 victory over Switzerland, setting up a mouthwatering clash with the Three Lions, who booked their own semi-final spot after edging Norway 2-1.

According to reports, Argentina have asked FIFA for permission to wear their all-blue away kit instead of their iconic sky blue and white striped home shirt. A final decision on the request is expected on Tuesday.

So far at the tournament, Lionel Scaloni's side have worn their famous home colours in five of their six matches. Their only appearance in the all-blue strip came during the group stage, when they defeated Jordan 3-1.

While the request may simply be due to England being designated as the official "home" team for the semi-final, many supporters believe there could be a deeper meaning behind the decision.

Superstition—known in Argentina as cábala—has long played an important role in the nation's football culture, with players, coaches and fans often embracing rituals they believe bring good fortune.

The all-blue kit also carries significant historical memories against England. Argentina famously wore dark blue shirts during their legendary 1986 World Cup quarter-final victory, when Diego Maradona scored both the "Hand of God" goal and the unforgettable "Goal of the Century." They also wore blue during their dramatic 1998 Round of 16 triumph, which ended in a penalty shootout.

If FIFA approves the request, England are expected to wear their traditional all-white home kit when the two football giants meet in what promises to be one of the biggest matches of the tournament.
