The attackers, reportedly numbering more than 20, invaded the community shortly after heavy rainfall on Sunday, July 19, 2026, and operated from about 10pm until 12:40am on Monday.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said villagers were forced to flee into nearby bushes after hearing sporadic gunshots.
"We started hearing sporadic gunshots immediately they arrived, forcing everyone to run into the nearby bush. When we came back, we found that they had killed two people, injured four others and abducted nine residents," the resident said.
The deceased were identified as Abubakar Musa and Bello Madubi, while Hamisu Garba, Usman Sani, Lawali Mamman and Isah Bako reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.
The source said those abducted comprised six women and three men, including two pregnant women and three children.
The attackers also reportedly rustled a large number of livestock before leaving the community.
The incident occurred barely 10 days after suspected bandits invaded the neighbouring communities of Arba and Koliyal, where one person was killed and 12 others abducted.
The resident lamented that insecurity had continued to worsen across communities in Kwargaba Ward, claiming that more than 60 residents were currently being held captive by bandits.
According to the source, 11 of those in captivity were abducted from Arba, while about 35 were taken from Gidan Modi, despite the release of eight victims following the payment of ransom. Seven others abducted from Sabon Garin Daje were also said to remain in captivity.
The resident appealed to the Federal and Sokoto State Governments to urgently strengthen security in the affected communities, saying residents were living in constant fear due to the persistent attacks.
"We try to defend our communities whenever they attack, but they have superior weapons and always overpower us. Most of the people we lose are killed while confronting the attackers because no security help comes," he said.
"We are pleading with the government to look at our communities with compassion before the situation gets worse."
