Bauchi Police Arrest 40-Year-Old Man For Allegedly Impersonating DSS Officer.

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Mustapha Yahaya, for allegedly impersonating a personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, July 27, 2026.

According to Habib, Yahaya was intercepted at about 1 a.m. during a routine patrol by operatives of the command's Violent Crimes Response Unit (VCRU) along Bayan Gari in Bauchi metropolis.

The suspect reportedly claimed to be a DSS personnel attached to the Bauchi State Command when questioned by the police.

However, further investigations allegedly revealed that the claim was false and that Yahaya was not a member of the DSS.

"For the third time in a week, the Bauchi State Police Command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of another impersonator," the statement said.

The command identified the suspect as Mustapha Yahaya, 40, of Ran Road, Bauchi.

He is currently undergoing interrogation and is expected to be charged to court for prosecution upon the completion of investigations.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, warned members of the public to be vigilant and demand proper identification from anyone claiming to be a security operative.

The command also reiterated its commitment to tackling criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.
