The incident was said to have occurred on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
A Facebook user, Agbaso Solomon Igba, who confirmed the incident, claimed that the deceased was the wife of Isaac Aondohemba Alia, the younger brother of Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
Another Facebook user, Akpen Denen, who said he rushed the woman to a hospital following the incident, claimed that a doctor later confirmed her death on arrival.
Sharing his account of the incident, Denen expressed shock and sadness over her sudden death.
He wrote, “I am astonished and still grappling with the events that transpired during today's church service. You suddenly fell, and initially, I thought it might have been due to the anointing.
“Upon rushing you to the teaching hospital for medical attention, the doctor informed me of the devastating news that you didn't survive. Who am I to question the divine will? Our Dear wife, Joy Aondohemba Alia, may your soul rest in peace.”
The circumstances surrounding her sudden death have not been officially disclosed.
