Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has sworn in two new commissioners and approved a cabinet reshuffle involving six members of the State Executive Council as part of efforts to improve the performance of his administration.
The changes were announced on Monday through the governor's official Facebook page.
He said the appointments and redeployments were made to strengthen governance and help his administration achieve its People First agenda across the state.
The newly appointed commissioners are Ayuk Obi Afor, who will head the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and Dodeye Ikpi Arikpo, who was assigned to the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations.
Governor Otu said the appointments were intended to improve government operations and speed up development in different sectors of the state.
He also explained that the cabinet reshuffle was designed to increase efficiency, improve performance and strengthen service delivery.
Under the new arrangement, Anom Emmanuel Moses was moved from the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development to the Ministry of Human Capital Development.
Ekpang Erasmus Ekpang was transferred from the Ministry of Information and Orientation to the Ministry of Lands, while Cobham Ekpenyong Ene was moved from the Ministry of Transport to the Ministry of Information and Orientation.
Mensah Bassey Offiong was redeployed from the Ministry of Water Resources to the Ministry of Environment. Kingsley N. Egumi was reassigned from the Ministry of Human Capital Development to the Ministry of Transport, while Ekpenyong Francis Edet moved from the Ministry of Lands to the Ministry of Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries Development.
The governor said the redeployments were made to ensure that the experience and skills of cabinet members matched the priorities of his administration as it continues to pursue development across the state.
He also congratulated the newly sworn-in commissioners and those assigned to new ministries, urging all members of the State Executive Council to remain focused on providing effective service and delivering meaningful results for the people of Cross River State.
