Delta Police Arrest Two Suspects, Recover Firearms & Suspected Cocaine During Highway Stop-&-Search.

The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected criminals and recovered firearms, live ammunition, suspected cocaine and other incriminating items during a stop-and-search operation along the Agbarho–Warri Road.

The operation was carried out on 25 July 2026 by operatives of the Safer Highway Patrol, who intercepted a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV bearing registration number AAA 604 JZ.

The suspects, identified as 46-year-old Omini Ezeri and 42-year-old Chinedum Wagbara, both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, were travelling in the vehicle when they were stopped by police officers.

According to the Delta State Police Command's spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, a third occupant of the vehicle, identified as God Knows Ifreke, fled the scene during preliminary questioning, escaping into a nearby swamp before officers could apprehend him.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, approximately 200 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder and two sophisticated mobile phones.

SP Edafe confirmed that the two suspects remain in police custody, while efforts are continuing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.

Police said investigation into the case is ongoing.
