Doctor Linked To Kanu’s Health Report Arrested In Enugu.

Emeritus Professor Martin Aghaji, a medical expert who reportedly prepared an independent medical report on the health of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has allegedly been arrested in Enugu State.

The development was made public on Saturday by human rights lawyer Maxwell Okpara, who said Aghaji was taken into custody at his residence in Independence Layout, Enugu, on Friday.

According to Okpara, the circumstances surrounding the arrest remain unclear, as no official reason has been given by the authorities.

The lawyer, however, linked the incident to the medical report Aghaji reportedly submitted on Kanu's health. He said the findings in the report differed from the medical assessment earlier presented by the Department of State Services.

Okpara appealed to the Nigerian Medical Association, the Nigerian Bar Association, civil society organisations and other relevant bodies to monitor the matter and ensure that due process is followed.

He also called on the authorities to uphold the rule of law and ensure that no individual is intimidated over professional opinions or information provided in the course of their duties.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued explaining the reason for Aghaji's reported arrest.
