EFCC Frees Randy Peter, Mama Pee After Questioning.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released activists Randy Peter and Mama Pee after they responded to an invitation from the anti-graft agency at its headquarters in Abuja.

The two were allowed to leave after several hours of questioning and were instructed to return to the commission's office on Thursday.

The activists visited the EFCC headquarters on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, where they remained for about 11 hours before they were released shortly after midnight.

Their colleague, Justice Cracks, who accompanied them to the EFCC office, confirmed their release in a post on X.

He said both activists arrived at the commission's office around 1:00 p.m. and spent most of the day answering questions before they were eventually allowed to go home. He also said the EFCC directed them to return on July 16 for further engagement.

Justice Cracks added that he stayed at the commission's premises throughout the process and even recorded a video from the car park while waiting for the activists to complete their meeting with officials.

Before news of their release became public, concerns had spread across social media after Esther Umoh, who served as the 2023 presidential campaign photographer for Peter Obi, disclosed that the two activists had not left the EFCC office several hours after honouring the invitation.

Her post led to growing speculation online, with many people believing Randy Peter and Mama Pee had been arrested because of the long hours they spent at the commission's headquarters.

However, Justice Cracks later cleared the uncertainty by confirming that both activists had regained their freedom and would return to the EFCC office as requested by the commission.

The EFCC has not released any official statement explaining why Randy Peter and Mama Pee were invited for questioning.
