The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied reports circulating online that it is carrying out a secret recruitment exercise, describing the claim as false.
The anti-graft agency made the clarification on Monday through its verified X account, urging Nigerians to ignore the message spreading across social media platforms.
The viral post claimed that the EFCC had started a hidden recruitment process and that selected candidates would begin training in the coming month. It also directed people to send anonymous messages to get more details about the alleged opportunity.
The commission responded by sharing a notice labelled “FAKE NEWS” and stated that the information was not from the agency.
EFCC explained that similar false recruitment messages had been shared in the past by individuals attempting to deceive job seekers and take advantage of people looking for employment opportunities.
The agency said its recruitment exercises are always announced publicly through its official channels and that it does not employ secret methods or use unofficial persons to handle recruitment.
The commission advised Nigerians to confirm any information about its activities or job openings through verified EFCC platforms to avoid falling victim to scams. It warned that acting on unconfirmed social media reports could lead to financial losses or other problems.
