FG Inaugurates New Bank Of Agriculture Board.

The Federal Government has inaugurated a new Board of Directors for the Bank of Agriculture, appointing a 10-member team to provide fresh leadership for the government-owned financial institution.

The inauguration took place at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security headquarters in Abuja, where the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, formally presented the new board.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Office of the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture through its communications personnel, Abimbola Otepola-Ishaku, the new board is expected to improve corporate governance and guide the bank toward achieving its development goals.

The government said the appointments are part of efforts to strengthen the bank's role in promoting agricultural development, boosting food security, expanding financial inclusion and supporting sustainable economic growth across the country.

During the inauguration, Kyari urged the board members to work together with dedication and integrity while supporting projects that create employment opportunities, reduce poverty and improve the living conditions of Nigerians.

The newly appointed Chairman of the Board, Muhammad Babangida, said the board would work closely with the bank's management to reposition the institution as a leading development finance bank.

He said the new leadership would focus on supporting the Federal Government's priorities in food security, job creation and inclusive economic growth.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ayodeji Sotinrin, also pledged the bank's commitment to implementing the board's vision through stronger governance, wider access to agricultural financing and partnerships that would benefit farmers, agribusinesses and rural communities.

He added that the bank would increase efforts to make affordable agricultural loans more accessible, improve risk management, strengthen institutional governance and speed up its digital transformation to improve service delivery.

The newly inaugurated board consists of Muhammad Babangida as Chairman, Ayodeji Sotinrin as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Fatima Garba as Executive Director for Corporate Services, Hakeem Salami as Executive Director for Operations and Information Technology, and Ka'amuna Khadi as Executive Director for Risk Management.
