FG Investigates As White Foamy Substance Triggers Chemical Spill Investigation On Kaduna-Abuja Road.

The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has launched an investigation into a suspected chemical spill on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway, following the appearance of a white, foamy substance at the scene.

A team from the NESREA Kaduna State Field Office, led by the State Coordinator, Mr Hena Dangari Emmanuel, visited the location as part of efforts to determine the cause and potential environmental impact of the incident.

During the visit, the team held discussions with the Police Commander for Jere, ACP Sani Zubairu, the area commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps and the community leader.

Preliminary findings indicated that a heavy-duty truck was involved in an accident, resulting in the spillage of its contents at the location.

NESREA said it had gathered relevant information from officials and residents to assist with the investigation. The agency also collected samples of the foamy substance, soil and water from a nearby stream for laboratory analysis.

The agency advised members of the public to avoid coming into contact with the foamy substance, nearby water and surrounding soil until the investigation is concluded.

NESREA said the precautionary measure was necessary to prevent possible exposure to hazardous materials while the nature of the substance and the extent of the environmental impact are being determined.
