A close friend and colleague of the late Mary Habila, Anita Baaki, has shared a video showing the 26-year-old dismissing false rumours about her death just days before she was found dead at the residence of the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
Mary Habila died on 27 June 2026. Her body was discovered inside a room in one of the buildings within the Minister's country home in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.According to Baaki, a physiotherapist from Benue State, false reports claiming that Habila had died began circulating on social media on 24 June 2026.
The following day, 25 June, Habila addressed the rumours herself, reassuring friends, family and the public that she was alive and in good health.
Sharing the video on Facebook on 20 July, Baaki said the footage served as a reminder that Habila had personally debunked the false claims just three days before her death.
