Uzodimma made the remarks during a state dinner held at the Imo State Government House on Friday, July 17. His comments were contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Tinubu's spokesperson, Tunde Rahman.
According to the governor, President Tinubu assumed office with a clear understanding of Nigeria's economic challenges and acted swiftly to implement reforms aimed at repositioning the country's economy.
"In President Bola Tinubu, we have another Lee Kuan Yew," Uzodimma said.
Lee Kuan Yew served as Singapore's first Prime Minister from 1959 to 1990 and is widely credited with transforming the Southeast Asian nation into one of the world's most prosperous economies through industrialisation, policies that attracted foreign investment, and a strong anti-corruption drive.
Although his administration was often criticised by some observers for its authoritarian style, Lee remains one of the most influential political figures in modern history, with Singapore consistently ranking among the world's wealthiest countries in terms of per capita income.
Uzodimma said President Tinubu's economic reforms reflect similar determination to tackle Nigeria's longstanding structural challenges and lay the foundation for sustainable national development.
The governor's remarks come amid ongoing debates over the impact of the Federal Government's economic policies, including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms and other measures introduced since Tinubu assumed office.
