The Kebbi State Government has dismissed allegations that it abandoned communities affected by bandit attacks and other security threats in the state.
The government, in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Nasir Idris, Ahmed Idris, said the claims being circulated by some opposition figures were misleading and did not reflect the efforts being made to tackle insecurity.
The administration explained that security operations often involve strategies, intelligence gathering and actions that cannot always be made public, adding that the absence of public announcements does not mean authorities are inactive.
Governor Nasir Idris, according to the statement, remains committed to protecting residents and working with security agencies and relevant stakeholders to address security challenges across Kebbi.
The government said its focus is to ensure that citizens can carry out their daily activities without fear, while farmers are able to return to their farmlands and communities regain confidence.
It urged individuals and groups commenting on security matters to avoid turning the situation into political debates, noting that tackling insecurity requires cooperation, careful planning and confidentiality.
The Kebbi government maintained that it would continue supporting security agencies and using available resources to protect lives and property while working towards peace and stability across the state.
