Michael Kayode Signs New Long-Term Brentford Contract Until 2032.

Premier League club Brentford have rewarded British-Nigerian defender Michael Kayode with a new long-term contract that will keep him at the club until June 2032, with an option to extend for an additional year.

The 21-year-old joined the Bees from Fiorentina in a deal worth €18 million after initially arriving on loan in January 2025. Following an impressive debut campaign in England, the club has moved to secure his long-term future.

Reacting to the new deal, Kayode expressed his delight at continuing his journey with Brentford.

“I feel like this club is a family, so I wanted to continue my journey here. I have amazing relationships that make me really like coming in every morning to train and have fun with my team-mates, the staff and all the people around,” Kayode told the club's official website.

He added:

“Ever since I joined the club, everything has been amazing. It feels like I’ve been playing for Brentford for 10 years. I’ve improved a lot on the pitch and outside of the pitch. That’s really important for me.”

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews praised the versatile full-back, describing him as one of the club's standout performers last season.

“Michael had an amazing season last year. He epitomised everything good that we do. His development and evolution has been really, really impressive,” Andrews said.

He continued:

“Michael’s someone that we love working with every single day, who comes in with such an enthusiastic demeanour, and is a joy to be around and to coach. We’re absolutely delighted that he wants to stay because we love having him here, and this new contract is absolutely deserved.”

Kayode enjoyed an impressive first full season with Brentford, making 44 appearances across all competitions. The young defender scored one goal, provided two assists, and earned a nomination for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
