US President Donald Trump reserved special praise for rapper Nicki Minaj during a luncheon at the White House Rose Garden, describing the award-winning musician as "so hot" and "a fantastic person."
The 80-year-old president acknowledged the 43-year-old rapper during the event on Monday while addressing guests gathered at the White House.
“We also have a woman that is so respected and so hot and so great and such a great friend of, I don’t say conservative, I say of common sense,” Trump said before launching into remarks about Democratic Socialists and communism.
Returning his attention to the rapper, Trump added: “She’s a fantastic person, and she’s a woman that’s respected by everybody, and she’s got real talent, Nicki Minaj. Nicki, stand up, please. Such a great person and respected by everybody.”
The comments drew attention online, with clips of the exchange quickly circulating on social media.
Following the event, Nicki Minaj shared updates from her White House visit with her followers, posting photos and videos from the occasion.
The rapper used the hashtag #WhiteHouseBarbie in several posts and shared a video from the garden party while dressed in a Versace outfit, captioning it: “#WhiteHouseBarbie #VersaceTingz.”
Minaj also posted photographs of herself standing near a portrait of President Trump inside the White House and another image showing the pair posing together in the Oval Office.
The visit and Trump's remarks have since generated significant reactions online, with supporters and critics alike weighing in on the unusual exchange between the US president and the globally renowned rapper.
Nicki Minaj, whose real name is Onika Maraj, is one of the most successful female rappers of all time, known for hit songs including Anaconda, Super Bass and Starships.
