Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has named newly completed government buildings after three former governors of the state in recognition of their roles in the development of Ekiti.
The former governors honoured are Ayodele Fayose, Segun Oni and Kayode Fayemi.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, announced the decision in a statement issued to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
According to the statement, two of the buildings named after Fayemi and Fayose will be officially opened on Friday, July 31, and Monday, August 3, respectively.
The building named after former Governor Segun Oni is also nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned in October.
Oyebode recalled that Oyebanji had earlier named the renovated Presidential Lodge after Ekiti’s first civilian governor, Niyi Adebayo, in October 2024. The facility was later inaugurated by Adebayo during activities marking the second anniversary of Oyebanji’s administration.
The statement added that Fayemi, Fayose and Oni would attend the ceremonies as special guests of honour and personally inaugurate the buildings named in their honour.
The development marks the beginning of another round of project inaugurations by the Oyebanji administration as the governor prepares to complete his first term and begin a second term in office.
The state government said the move was part of efforts to complete and deliver projects started by the administration for public use.
