OYO RESCUE: Slain Nigerian Army Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac Buried.

The remains of Lieutenant Felix Ademe Isaac, a 28-year-old officer of the Nigerian Army who was killed during a rescue operation for abducted teachers and pupils in Oyo State, have been laid to rest with full military honours.

According to Daily Trust, Lt. Isaac lost his life while leading troops in an operation to rescue the victims, who were eventually freed on Friday, July 10, 2026.

Reports surrounding the circumstances of his death have differed. Some accounts claim the military convoy was struck by an explosive device planted by terrorists within the National Park area of Oyo State, while others allege the officer stepped on a landmine reportedly planted by suspected Ansaru militants believed to be behind the abduction. The Nigerian military has not publicly confirmed these specific accounts.

Born on August 25, 1997, Lt. Isaac was buried on July 10, 2026, at the 23rd Armoured Brigade Cemetery in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, in a ceremony attended by military personnel who paid their final respects to the fallen officer.

Lt. Isaac was among the security personnel who lost their lives during the operation, which ultimately resulted in the successful rescue of the kidnapped teachers and pupils.
