Police Launch Investigation After Three Family Members Found Dead In Osisioma.

 

A family of three has been found dead inside their residence in Umuimo Village, Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia State, days after they were last seen alive.

The deceased, whose identities have yet to be officially released, were reportedly last seen on Saturday, July 18, with the cause of their deaths still unknown.

Concerned neighbours reportedly became suspicious after the family members were not seen for several days. On Tuesday, July 21, worried residents allegedly forced their way into the apartment to check on them, where they discovered the decomposing bodies.

The bodies were reportedly found in the sitting room, with the scene suggesting that the family may have been eating shortly before their deaths. This has led to speculation that they may have died from food poisoning or fumes allegedly emitted by a generator.

However, the police have not confirmed the cause of death.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident and said an autopsy would be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

According to Chinaka, the incident was reported to the Osisioma Divisional Police Headquarters on July 22 by the deceased's brother, who became concerned after he was unable to reach Kachi Nnabugwu.

"Upon arrival, repeated knocks yielded no response. They subsequently forced entry into the house, where they discovered the lifeless and decomposing bodies of their brother and his family," she said.

She added that police officers had visited the scene and conducted a preliminary visual examination, while photographs were also taken as part of the investigation.

"The corpses have been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy. Investigation is ongoing," Chinaka said.

The police are expected to rely on the outcome of the autopsy and other investigations to determine the exact cause of the family's deaths.
