Daniel Adegboyega a Nigerian Born student at A Jacksonville State University in the United States of America and basketball player has been arrested and charged with first-degree rape.
Daniel Adegboyega, 21, is charged with first-degree
rape by forcible compulsion. Court documents say the alleged incident occurred
July 29.
Calhoun County Sheriff's Office website says he is
being held by ICE. He has been removed from Jackson State basketball's website.
He played for USF before transferring to JSU. According to USF's website, he is
from Lagos, Nigeria and played high school basketball in Iowa.
He is being held with no bond under Aniah's Law.
Assistant Athletic Director Donnie Smith released the
following statement Friday:
"We are aware of the arrest. In response, the
individual has been suspended from the men's basketball team. Because the
matter did not occur on campus and remains under active investigation by the
Jacksonville Police Department, questions regarding the investigation should be
directed to the Jacksonville Police Department."
